How much do trips cost?

MEDLIFE's trip fee ranges from $1650 to $1950

You will be purchasing your own plane tickets which range about $600- 1000

What does the trip fee cover?
​

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided during the weekdays

Trip participants are in charge of food ​on weekends

Lodging during the span of the trip (often at a local hotel or hostel)

Transportation for MEDLIFE activities (transportation to work sites, reality tour, to and from airport, ect...)

Supplies for clinic and development site (medicine, dentist and ob/gyn tools, education materials, project tools, ect...)

What vaccinations do I need for the trips?

Vaccination vary by region. Check out the CDC website for the exact vaccinations needed for your trip.

Most common are Hepatitis, Tetanus, and Typhoid

How safe are the communities we visit?
​

The communities of Peru, Tanzania, and Ecuador are safe areas. The biggest safety concern at the moment are related to Covid-19. ​

What happens if there is a medical emergency during the trip?
​

Each trip has TWO student leaders with access to each trip participants emergency contacts and health information. In case of emergency they will contact the study abroad office at Texas A&M as well as the MEDLIFE staff on the trip to handle the situation.

With the Texas A&M travel insurance any medical issues will be covered and paid for.

Will there be service/wifi/ways to contact home on the trip?

The hotels/hostels often have wifi but the sites can often be out of range of service.

It is highly recommended to purchase international data before leaving for the trip to avoid international calling/texting fees.

A student leader/MEDLIFE employee will have service at all times for emergency communication.

How will we exchange currency?

Trip participants usually exchange a small amount of cash at the airport for the local currency.

After arriving to the area members will have a chance to exchange currency at a hotel or a local bank.
